What is the Phoenix Innovation Foundation (PIF)?
PIF was founded in 2009 as the Phoenix Innovation Foundation to address the operational needs of event organizers in the Phoenix-metro community. Our mission is to educate and promote the development of our community through the support of not-for-profit art, science, charitable and technological events.
Conceived from the experiences of community based event organizers the idea came from the realization that a large percentage of the work that goes into putting on an event is entirely operational, universal and repeatable. By coordinating a large portion of this work and providing it to an event organizer, we free up their energy to focus on making their event exciting and engaging for their community.
In effect PIF’s primary goal is to create an entity that shares that common work and raises the abilities of organizers to put on better events.
Does PIF run the events it works with?
No, Phoenix Innovation Foundation (PIF), does not run any events. PIF was created as a way for various free technical and creative events in the Phoenix area to get support and advice on things like venues, marketing, organizing, fundraising, and other various bits that come up with an event. Our goal is simple, to help the Phoenix area community grow
What events does PIF work with?
We support events whose mission is to educate and promote the local Phoenix-metro community. By community run events we mean organized and attended by people right here in our own backyard. By mission we mean not-for-profit events which seek to nurture local economic, social, and environmental development. If your goal is to make a profit we’re not the organization for you.
What services does PIF offer?
PIF offers a range of operational assistance for events to let the organizers focus on the more creative aspects of their event. Among the servies we provide are:
- Financial Services – We assist with the management, acceptance and distribution of charitable donations for the event and we assume all tax liabilities.
- Promotion – We maintain a published calendar of all partner and affiliated events. We will also offer direct event promotion via common social media platforms and the potential for cross promotion with other PIF related events where appropriate.
- Vendor Connections/Discounts – We provide access to our partner events to a preferred list of vendors that have worked successfully for our events that provide commonly purchased goods and services.
- Insurance – Insurance policy purchase is available at a discount for partner events and is paid directly to venues.
How can I work with PIF on my own event?
Are you a community-based art, science, charitable or technology event whose mission is to educate and promote the local Phoenix-metro community, a seminars where local art, science, technology, and governmental leaders can exchange ideas and implement strategies to educate and promote the local Phoenix-metro community or an event that highlights and addresses the needs of a local charity for the purposes of raising funds?
